University of Suffolk | See It Your Way

The University of Suffolk challenged us to capture their unique spirit with a bold, vibrant TV commercial that encouraged new perspectives.

The Brief

When the University of Suffolk approached us to produce their latest TV commercial, See It Your Way, we were excited. Their brief had everything we could ask for; a fresh campaign concept, a focus on individuality, and a clear challenge to push the boundaries of traditional university advertising.

We took their campaign tagline, See It Your Way, and turned it into a mantra for the production. How do you see things differently? For us, it was about leaning in to practical video production gear to show us something different.

Laowa Probe Lens: This lens perfectly complemented our vision of seeing things differently. By capturing macro-level detail from unique, almost surreal angles, it transformed everyday objects into something extraordinary, reinforcing the campaign’s focus on uncovering new perspectives.

FPV Drones: These drones weren’t just about showing movement; they allowed us to explore the campus in a way that feels personal and alive. Their agility let us weave through trees, dive through windows, and soar above, reflecting the boundless energy and opportunities Suffolk offers its students.

Stylised Sets: By reimagining some campus spaces and adding cinematic polish, we created a visual style that matched the campaign’s vibrancy, blending the real and aspirational to inspire prospective students.

The goal was to make every frame surprising, engaging, and a little bit unconventional, just like the University of Suffolk.

 

Production

We shot the TVC over two days on the UoS campus. The primary camera was the ARRI Amira. Chosen for its exceptional image quality, and paired with the probe lens for those intricate, close-up details. A slider helped us add smooth motion to many shots, making each moment feel dynamic and alive. And, of course, the drones, these were key for the opening and closing sequences, giving the commercial its signature energy.

 

Post-Production

The story didn’t stop when the cameras turned off. In post-production, we pulled everything together, adding subtle layers to make the final edit shine.

VFX: VFX & animation were used to replace the screen of a student’s phone; transforming a social media post into a vibrant celebration of Suffolk’s ranking as a top institution for employability. And, to bring a computer game character to life, representing the work of UoS computer science students.

Fast-Paced Editing: The final cut is a high-energy montage that mirrors the buzz and excitement of campus life. We used incorporated elements of stock material to further the concept of unique perspectives. This included X-Ray images, brain-wave patterns and genuine UoS student photography.

 

The Result

The finished film is more than just a commercial. It’s a window into what makes the University of Suffolk special. It’s bold, modern, and unapologetically fun, and it leaves a lasting impression on its viewers.

We’re proud to have been part of this campaign. It’s projects like these that remind us why we love what we do: working with fantastic clients, telling great stories, and bringing a little bit of cinematic magic to the world.
