Lambda Films was commissioned by Screenshot Media Group to produce a series of 12 commercials for Vinted, the leading online marketplace for second-hand fashion.
The Brief
Screenshot has been a longstanding collaborator with Vinted, producing much of their social content in-house. However, with the introduction of the Designer arm of the brand, which includes a new item verification feature, Vinted sought to elevate their promotional efforts through high-end commercials. Screenshot Media Group decided to partner with a dedicated video production company for this campaign. After a competitive pitch process, Lambda Films was selected to produce the series.
The brief encompassed twelve 30-second spots divided into two categories:
Too Many series comprising of six commercials focusing on key markets; Women’s, Men’s, Pets, Kids, Home, and Entertainment.
Designer Series, six commercials showcasing the benefits of Vinted’s new item verification service for its Brand & Designer market.
Production
Pre-production was a collaborative effort between Lambda Films and Screenshot Media Group. The agency handled location scouting, casting, and storyboarding, while Lambda Films focused on technical execution.
To inject pace and energy into the films, our team prioritised dynamic camera movements. Utilising the lightweight Red Komodo camera mounted on a gimbal allowed for seamless transitions between setups with minimal re-rigging time. This approach was particularly beneficial given the tight shooting locations.
A small, versatile crew consisting of a Director, DoP, First AC, and Gaffer ensured efficient operations. Lighting setups were kept minimalistic, using bi-colour LED fixtures to allow for quick adjustments and maintain a clear floor space for camera and talent movement.
Given the need for future localisation, phone screens were filmed using a green screen to facilitate post-production compositing. Additionally, a unique score and sound design were created to complement the visuals, enhancing the overall impact of the commercials.
Outcome
The collaboration resulted in a compelling series of commercials that effectively promoted Vinted’s core services and introduced their new Designer service to a broader audience. The dynamic visuals and strategic storytelling aligned with Vinted’s brand ethos, showcasing the platform’s versatility and commitment to quality.
